Book a Clay Date!

How It works

You and your partner will begin by learning the basics of wheel-throwing (sorry, it doesn’t involve throwing actual wheels, for that, try the local dump) and of course, classic hand-building techniques to give you the manual dexterity required to get things rolling.

While inside the studio, feel free to partake in the free arcade section or lounge in the hanging chair (perfect for cat naps). We are a BYOB operation so feel free to crack open that special bottle appropriate beverage to share with your partner.

Once you’re done, your piece will be fired in a kiln (ceramic oven) and ready for pickup three weeks later. That you can schedule here.

What can I make?

So now that your hands are covered in clay, you’re probably wondering, what do I make? Well, clayer, it’s up to you.

Studio favorites include mugs, jugs, bowls, dishes, trays, mortars, pestles, basins, receptacles, bins, jars, containers, small vases, paperweights, amorphous blobs, and even cups. You’ll have additional time to create even more elaborate works like mugs with handles, cups with saucers.

What should I bring?

Materials, smocks, aprons – whatever you need will be provided.

If a little clay gets on your clothes, don’t worry, it comes right out with water. And if a little clay gets on your skin, think of it as a natural exfoliant.

So dress comfortably and have fun. All you need to bring is your beverage of choice and a positive attitude.

Our unique 2-hour wheel throwing classes are $75 per person (there’s a minimum of 2 people, hence the “date” part).

We’ll fire your pieces and three weeks later, voila, your finished masterpieces will be ready for pickup. Or, if you prefer keeping your distance, we will gladly ship them to you, at an additional cost of $12 per piece. It’s totally your call.

If you need more time and space, then reserving the entire studio might be a good idea. And for $599, you can do just that.

Can I eat out of my finished piece?
You certainly can. All works will be food, oven, dishwasher, and microwave safe.
Can I eat my finished piece?
How many glazes can I choose from?
What kind of instruction should I expect?
The one-on-one variety from a member of our highly skilled staff.
Will there be a test?
Only if you want one.
Is there parking available?
Yes. There is plenty of free street parking available around the studio, as well a lot just past Willard street behind the school.
Cancellation policy

In order to guarantee a full refund, cancellations must be made at least 72 hours in advance by phone or email.

We understand that sometimes emergencies happen and in the event of a serious emergency or inclement weather, please still reach out with as much notice as possible and we will do our best to work with you.

Late policy

We ask that all guests arrive 15 minutes early for setup to ensure class can start on time.

Latecomers are a serious distraction for the teacher and the rest of the class. If you arrive more than 10 minutes late, you will not be able to join the class.

Can I recreate the pottery scene from 'Ghost'?
Absolutely. We're happy to take a photo for you and your partner (we've even got a cutout of Patrick for you to pose with).
So how about that COVID, huh?

Our policy is that all guests and teachers must wear masks over their mouth and nose at all times while inside the Loom building. You may lower your mask only to drink from any beverage or snack that you bring. We apologize for any inconvenience, but our goal is always to protect the health and safety of our teachers and all guests.

If you have forgotten your mask at home we will be happy to provide you with a disposable mask for use during class.

In this more advanced class, students will be introduced to functional lidded vessels (such as teapots and french presses) and work on honing the skills learned in our beginner course. This class is reserved for students that have previously joined us for one of our beginner courses, or have prior ceramic experience.
