Raku Firings

Explore Raku Firing

Different from firing a piece in a kiln, a Raku firing is done outdoors using a large gas kiln. Pieces are heated to 1,850 degrees Fahrenheit. Once the temperature is reached, the kiln is lifted using special tongs to remove the pieces.

  • Raku is best for decorative pieces as it is not food-safe.
  • A special Raku glaze is used before it goes into the kiln.
  • This is a traditional firing that is not to be missed.

Pick a date

When booking a raku firing, you need to carve out at least 3-5 hours for the workshop.

Bring a friend

Our Raku firings can be as small as 1 person or a large group of 25+ bookings.

BYOB (and snack)

We have a BYOB and snack policy. Since sessions are between 3-5 hours long, we recommend bringing food and drink to enjoy.

Ensure proper attire

Proper attire needs to be worn at all times. No open-toed shoes. Long sleeves, long pants.

What our Members say

Julianne A.

Keith is a natural educator and led our group of 6 women through an amazing raku session. Very well organized and communicative. Couldn’t have asked for a better guide for all things raku. Definitely planning to book another session in the future. Thank you so much!

Mullin Studio

Just did a raku firing with Keith and it was amazing!!! I highly recommend booking him for a workshop. We were a group of 6 and each one of us had great results. Keith was knowledgable, enthusiastic, safe, and got all of us working as a team. We learned a ton and were delighted with the unique glaze effects! Looking forward to doing it again!
