Our 1500 sq ft ‘Mud Club’ studio is designed to be a space where members can work autonomously amongst the community. Applicants with a solid understanding of the ceramic process and safety practices are best suited for membership with us. We bisque fire to cone 04 and glaze fire to cone 6. All loading, firing, and unloading of kilns are managed by our staff and vetted work exchange members. Members are responsible for purchasing their own clay which we supply in-house and covering firing costs for glazed pieces only.
I’ve always wanted to try pottery so when I saw an Instagram ad for YAY Clay’s “Clay Date,” a two-hour pottery experience, I knew I had to try it. After just two hours in the studio, I wanted to come back and try again. I signed up for an 8-week beginner class with zero expectations. I literally just wanted to make some crappy Christmas gifts for my friends and family. Our instructor, Katelyn, walked us through everything step-by-step, explaining not only how to do things, but why we needed to do them. The small class sizes, one-on-one instruction, and “homework” she gave us allowed me to really thrive in the studio. She told us “We want you to be here as much as possible, we want you to succeed.” I loved it so much that I immediately signed up for another 8 week class, Beyond Beginners. Now, 16 weeks later, I’m making some really cool things and have completely fallen in love with pottery. Everyone at YAY Clay is so kind, welcoming, and helpful that becoming a member was a no-brainer. What started as wanting to make some questionable Christmas gifts has turned into a hobby I absolutely love.
I’ve been a member of Yay Clay! for several months now, and it’s become my creative sanctuary. The new Mud Club studio is an absolute gem—having 24/7 access to a fully equipped studio is a game-changer. I love the freedom to work when it’s convenient for me. The vibe is friendly, the equipment top-notch, and the community is incredibly supportive.
I really like being a member at Yay Clay. The studio is spacious, well-organized, and stocked with all the tools and materials I could ask for. I especially appreciate the community atmosphere—everyone here is passionate about their craft, and it’s inspiring to be surrounded by such creative energy.
